Story of Henry Ford

                Henry Ford was an American Industrialist and business magnate, founder of the ford  motor company and chief developer of the assembly line technique of mass production.

Died : 7 April 1947, Fair Lane, Dearborn, Michigan

                  The Story begins in Springwells Township, Wayne County, Michigan, on 30 July 1863, when Henry was the first-born of William and Mary Ford's six children. he was educated in a one-room school, where he showed an early interest in all things mechanical. this interest would develop into true genius and earn him the accolade of 'one of the greatest industrialists in the world'.




                   By the age of 12, he was spending most of his spare time in a small machine shop, which he had equipped himself. he constructed his first steam engine in 1878, at aged at just 15. his experiment was the building of a self- propelled vehicle - The Quadricycle - in 1896. the first Ford engine spluttered its way into history, on his wooden kitchen table at 58 Bagley Avenue and this was Quickly followed by his next design, an engine mounted on a frame, fitted with four bicycle wheels - the first ford car.



                    He founded the Detroit Automobile company in 1899 and renamed as the Henry Ford company in 1901. in October 10, 1901 Ford enters one of his cars in a 10 mile car race in Grosse pointe, which he wins. soon after, he builds a newer, more powerful racer the 999, which sets an American speed record of five miles in 5 minutes 28 seconds. 




                    On 16, July 1903 Henry ford and his partner Alexander Malcomson, Detroit's largest coal dealer, incorporate the Ford Motor Company with $28,000 in cash and $21,000 in promised funds from 10 other investors, primary friends, relatives. Between 1903 and 1908 advent of the Model T, Ford's company manufactures nine different cars: Models A, B, AC, C, F, K, N, R, and S. the most successful, is model N.



                    In October 1908 Ford introduced the Model T, or "Tin Lizzie" Within months, demand is so high that the company puts new orders on a hiatus. Ford's Highland park factory begins operating the first moving automobile assembly line in the world. By the end of the year, Highland Park will employ about 13,000 men. On 5, January 1914 Ford motors announces the $5/day wage for an eight-hour work day. the following day, 10,000 job seekers clamor for jobs at Highland Park.





                    Henry Ford begins secretly buying hundreds of acres of farmland along the river rouge to build what would become known as the Rouge Plant. In December 1915 Henry and Clara Ford move into Fair lane a 1,300 acre estate in Dearborn, Michigan. 

                    On 30, December 1918 Henry Ford suddenly resings from the presidency of the Ford Motor Company. his 25 year old son Edsel is elected to the role, and assumes the presidency on new Year's Day, 1919. on 5 March, 1919 Henry Ford declares that he is starting a rival automobile company which will produce a stripped- down version of the Model T to be sold for $250-$300. 




                    On 20 January, 1926 Henry Ford receives a memo from Ernest Kanzler, a Ford VP and Edsel's brother-in-law, expressing what he, Edsel, and most Ford executives believe: that the Ford Motor Company should end the production of the Model T because of falling sales numbers and build a new, improved model. on 30 September 1927 Henry Ford purchases land in Brazil to establish rubber plantations in what would become known as "Fordlandia".


                    The day before Ford's 75th birthday on july 20, Henry, Clara and a crowd of 40,000 spectators attend a pageant at Ford Field in Dearborn, in which 700 performers re-enact scenes from Ford's life. on 26 May,1943 Edsel Ford dies at age of 49 due to stomach cancer. on 1st june, 1943 Henry ford is re-elected president of Ford Motor company.



                    On 5 November,1945 Henry Ford 2, Edsel's oldest son and president of Ford Motor company for just six weeks. 

                    On April 7, 1947 Henry Ford dies at Fair Lane at age of 83.
